Scaffolding refers to various supports erected on construction sites for workers to operate and solve vertical and horizontal transportation problems. The general term in the construction industry refers to the use on construction sites for exterior walls, interior decoration, or areas with high ceilings that cannot be directly constructed. The main purpose is for construction personnel to work up and down or for surrounding safety nets and high-altitude installation of components. In other words, scaffolding is usually made of materials such as bamboo, wood, steel pipes, or synthetic materials. Some projects also use scaffolding as templates, and it is widely used in advertising, municipal, transportation, road and bridge, mining and other departments.

1) Scaffolding with a single specification steel pipe. It only uses one specification of steel pipe, such as the clip type steel pipe scaffold, which only uses welded steel pipes with a diameter of 48.3 × 3.6.

2) Scaffolding with a combination of steel pipes of various specifications. It is composed of two or more different specifications of steel pipes, such as a portal scaffold.

3) Scaffolding mainly made of steel pipes. Scaffolding mainly composed of steel pipes, supplemented by other types of steel members, such as inner scaffolding with channel steel supports or bases, and cantilever scaffolding with connected steel plates. When using steel pipe crossbars, the bowl buckle type steel pipe scaffold is a "single steel pipe scaffold"; When using steel profiles to build edge crossbars, it is referred to as a "scaffold mainly made of steel pipes".

Different types of construction projects use scaffolding and formwork supports for different purposes. At present, most bridge support frames use bowl buckle scaffolding, and there are also those that use portal scaffolding. The majority of scaffolding used in the construction of the main structure is fastened scaffolding, with a longitudinal distance of 1.2-1.8m and a transverse distance of 0.9-1.5m between the scaffolding poles.
